Beginner Crochet

Our 101 level classes assume you have never hed a hook before and we will start you off with the very basics to get you comfortable executing each stitch with the correct recognition and placement of stitches. We will be focusing on making sure you can create squared up fabric... so you can move on to making fun shapely projects in no time!

Crochet 101
-- The Fundamentals

Thursdays, November 20 & 27; 7:00 - 9:00pm -FULL-

Next Crochet 101 will be in January TBD

In these 2 sessions you will be introduced to the speedy and wonderful world of crochet! Learn (or refresh your knowledge of) the basic stitches: chain, single and double crochet.  We will cover increasing and decreasing and basic pattern reading. 

In the second session we will review your stitches and get you started on crocheting in the round!  So many items can be whipped up in the round, from hats to slippers to rugs and more... We will show you how to work in the round flat (think rugs) and the not so flat (think hats)!  

Come on in and get hooked on crochet and get started on this addictive form of yarn play with confidence!

Our crochet projects are meant to help teach you to follow patterns and practice and refine your skills! You will already need to know the basic stitches so we recommend the 101 level classes or equivalent exerience. But if you are comfortable with working your chains, single crochet and double crochet... you are absolutely ready to delve into the projects below!

Granny Squares

Sunday, December 7; 2:00 - 4:00pm

Granny squares are a speedy and varied technique in crochet which are very good to have in the repertoire! We will cover the classic square motifs, how to change colours, and joining techniques.

101 Level skills needed: You are comfortable creating the basic stitches chain, slip stitch, single crochet, and double crochet..

Please bring or buy: 2 or more colours of a smooth worsted weight yarn and a 4.5mm hook



Crochet Cozy Slippers

Thursday, December 4; 7:00 - 9:00pm

This is a great quick project that will guide you through how to follow a pattern that switches between round and flat construction.

Included in your class fee is enough yarn to make a set of baby size slippers, plus a pattern for an adult size to get you working on your own cozy slippers for the cool weather! Students will receive at 10% discount on slipper project purchases in class.

101 Level skills needed: You are comfortable creating the basic stitches chain, slip stitch, single crochet, and double crochet.

A great follow up to Crochet 101

Cost: $40.00 *** includes pattern and materials to make a baby size pair of slippers

Getting Fancy

For classes in our Getting Fancy level, we expect that you have at least an intermediate experience in crochet! That means that you have worked up a few basic projects are comfortable reading a beginner level of written crochet patterns and you have followwed at least a basic crochet chart. These classes are aimed at getting creative and working with fine fibers to create more intricate projects.

Crochet - Snowflakes

Thursday, December 4; 7:00 - 9:00pm

Remember those lovely, delicate white cotton snowflakes that just screamed handiwork and holidays?  Well, come on in to learn the twists and chains of crocheting these little lovelies. Learn about working with the tiny hooks and little cotton, as well as starching to make them stiff and perfectly shaped!


This is NOT a beginner class.  You must be confident with chain, single, and double crochet stitches.
